Anti*Capitalist Resistance is a project for a new revolutionary Marxist organisation. The activists behind A*CR came together in opposition to Brexit. The EU is a neoliberal capitalist trade bloc, but a vote for Brexit has accelerated the shift to the right in politics. We now have a government in the hands of English nationalists, an even more hostile environment for migrants, deepening racism, and creeping authoritarianism. The Left must now work together against the consequences of Tory Brexit.

A*CR will put the environmental crisis and an ecosocialist alternative at the centre of anti-capitalism. We challenge the growth-based, consumption-driven system of capitalism, which is also responsible for the development of pandemics such as COVID-19. The struggle we are engaged in is not ‘just’ a struggle to end capitalism and build a socialist society but to maintain a viable planet. This task is urgent. We need mass movements to break the power of the corporations and the regimes that support them if we are to prevent catastrophic and irreversible climate change.

A*CR will be internationalist, ecosocialist, and revolutionary anti-capitalist. That means opposing imperialism, nationalism, militarism, and supporting the self-organisation of women, Black people, disabled people, and LGBTIQ people in the fight against bigotry, discrimination, and oppression.

A*CR will support the right of all people to challenge imperialism and forms of apartheid oppression, and to struggle for self-determination. We support a united Ireland, Scotland’s right to independence, and freedom for Palestine.

A*CR will be committed to social change through the mass struggles of the working class and the oppressed. It will not focus mainly on electoralism and parliamentary reforms, but on grassroots action against low pay, evictions, NHS privatisation, detention centres, violence against women, homophobia, ecocide, and many more.

A*CR will defend the left gains in the Labour Party and the trade unions under Jeremy Corbyn. Radical policies against austerity, neoliberalism, and oppression are popular. The Green New Deal is popular. That is why Jeremy Corbyn and Bernie Sanders had so many enthusiastic supporters and came under unprecedented attack.

A*CR favours a pluralist and internationalist organisation that can learn from struggles across the world. We are democratic revolutionary socialists and oppose the top-down model of ‘democratic-centralist’ organisation. A*CR aims to be rooted in the struggles of the working class and the oppressed, and is committed to debate, initiative, and self-activity.

A*CR is now signing up its first members. They will work together to shape the new organisation. Through activity and debate, working collectively, we will create a new revolutionary organisation based on firm socialist principles. A founding conference to formalise the new organisation will take place early in 2021.
