With the killing of our sister Jina Amini we have yet again been reminded of a stark truth we never forget: our lives as women no matter who or where we are; are in danger of this male-dominated
system. We become targets for either daring to change this system or for having the potential to do so.
Women’s objections to patriarchal system, including capitalism, is rising from all around the world. And the fact that our quest has a true potential to reach an alternative system startles the male-dominant system.
This is why we have tried to establish and nurture the connection between women, life and freedom. It is this connection—Jin, Jîyan, Azadî—that is drawing us all closer universally. This is the point where we all intersect.
Thus we, TJK-E (Kurdish Women’s Movement-Europe), call for a meeting with the sole agenda of embracing the serhildan (uprisings) that began in Iran and East (Rojhilat) Kurdistan with the murder of Jina Amini and to unite our struggles. As women from different communities living in Europe, how can we respond to the rising women’s struggle and demands, what can we do together? What are the common demands that we can gather around and continue our struggle against the patriarchal system.
