On Friday 16th October 2020 Anti*Capitalist Resistance hosted an author talk by William I Robinson speaking about his new book ‘Global Police State’ in the audience that night was Ryan ‘Flaco’ Rising who contributed to the discussion.
After the talk, we learned a bit more about Flaco and the work he is currently undertaking with those that have been incarcerated and then released from the US and Mexican penal systems. The Underground Scholars which was co-founded by Flaco is currently in development at the University of California Santa Barbara, and I hope we will have Flaco speaking about this project at a future A*CR event.
Below is a video on Flaco’s journey, which is hard-hitting and does contain a description of how brutal the American penal system is. I would also like to share an article that Flaco wrote in August 2017 on removing barriers for those that have convictions and have served their time.
