International Women’s Day is #ChooseToChallenge

5 March 2021

International Women’s Day, which always lasts for longer than 24 hours, is more spread out than ever this year. It’s always the case, but the fact that most things are virtual makes this even more so.

The theme of this year’s international women’s day is #ChooseToChallenge and there are certainly many reasons to challenge the deepening inequality women have experienced across the world during the pandemic – even though we should at the same time celebrate our gains – such as the massive women for abortion rights in Argentina.

Personally, I long for the days when again I will be celebrating March 8 on the streets and that the Women’s strike movement which we talk about here was as strong in Britain as in other parts of the world, but for 2021 I will have to be satisfied with a range of zoom meetings

This is an eclectic mix of what’s on offer – determined entirely by what’s made its way into my inbox that I think is worth sharing.
