Poem of the Month – bog

Joseph Healy reading his poem 'bog'

Poem of the Month

I wrote this poem about a visit to an Irish bog this summer. It is apt coming up to COP26 as the bogs of Ireland are now regarded as massive carbon sinks which hold more carbon than the rain forests. However, due to destruction for fuel etc they are now the opposite and giving off more carbon than all the traffic in Ireland. It was submitted for an online poetry reading and went out yesterday for National Poetry Day.
