Zora Monico 24, is an activist with the Michigan Coalition for Reproductive Liberation and co-founder of WWN, Whenever We’re Needed. MCRL, WWN and other organisations sprung into action last October upon a Supreme Court threat to overturn Roe v. Wade, a landmark case protecting rights to one’s own body. Michigan faces one of the most restrictive trigger laws for abortion which was put into law in 1931 but made null by federal law because of Roe v. Wade. It is one of the 26 states in the US where abortion will be illegal or extremely restricted if the Supreme Court repeals this ruling.’
Kerry Abel Chair, Abortion Rights (UK) is the Chair of Abortion Rights, the only national grassroots campaign for abortion in Britain. Kerry works for a trade union and has a Masters in Gender Studies. She has promoted the campaign in the media and regularly addresses trade union and labour movement meetings.
Beth Douglas (she/her) is a trans campaigner who focuses on body autonomy in healthcare for cis women, trans people and the wider LGBT+ community. In the past, Beth has marched for reproductive rights in Ireland and Northern Ireland, and been involved in occupations for abortion policy as well as activism for trans and LGB+ healthcare. Presently her time is spent organising counter demos to confront hate preachers protesting outside of healthcare settings, campaigning for buffer zones and demos outside the US Consulate in light of the repeal of Roe v Wade. Beth believes that when body autonomy is weakened for one group it is weakened for everyone, this is why its incredibly important to show solidarity.
